New small standard tanks EVT3 and EVT6 with super insulation.

A new range of standard optimized tanks has been developed in Chart Ferox.

In its development of the EVT series, Chart Ferox took advantage of parent company Chart’s extensive experience with Composite Super Insulation System for standard tank manufacture in the US.

EVT tanks are designed for safe, easy and economical operation. Many of the features have been incorporated in close collaboration with leading industrial gas companies. EVT series tanks are vertical, stationary, pressure vessels with vacuum multilayer insulation for long-term storage of cryogenic liquefied gases under pressure.

EVT series are available in capacities of 3,000 and 6,000 liters and pressures of 19, 26 and 37 bars in accordance and conforming to EC directive 97/23/EC (PED- Pressure equipment directive). Tank design is in accordance with EN 13458-2.

The inner vessel of the tank in the EVT series has the same dimensions as the equivalent tank in the VT series. The outer vessel has a 200 mm smaller diameter, which makes for a 20% smaller footprint and transport dimensions. The weight of the EVT3/19 is 33% lower than that of the VT3/19. The EVT series comes with the three leg design, instead of the four legs of the tanks in the VT series. Also different is the modular plumbing with the fill cluster.

The main benefits for the customer are lower net evaporation rate (21% lower in case of EVT3/19 compared to VT3/19) and longer hold time as a result of an improved support system and highly efficient multilayer insulation. These advantages will be more obvious in the case of small high pressure tanks.

Manufacture of an EVT3/19 prototype was completed in July 2006. Long-term testing verified the very good operating characteristics of the tank enabling the commencement of delivery to customers in February 2007. Between February and July 2007, EVT tanks will be delivered in parallel to the current VT tank series by Chart Ferox. From August 2007, the EVT 3 and EVT 6 will be the standard tank for 3000 and 6000 liters tank capacities.

More detail technical information about EVT tanks can be found in the cold converter EVT series leaflet. As with all highly engineered and high performance products, customers carefully should read and adhere to operational and safety instructions and information accompanying Chart Ferox EVT tanks in order to ensure safety and best performance.
